後者好像曾經是MTV台年度點播冠軍
不過我是在高中時期
現在手上只有MP3

I like Meat Loaf's works, too
I think you guys also notice that: Meat Loaf played a part in the movie "Fight Club"
And in the album "Welcome To The Neighborhood",
he sang a old song written by Tom Waits named "Martha"
This album is just ok, but the Tom Waits' song is good...

這也是我聽他的第一首,
因為當年實在太紅了,
you took the words right out of my mouth 也是夠有震撼力
近年他都大多以演出電影為主吧, 但很少是大成本製作,
就像台灣歌星有些失去歌唱舞台後就只好往電視發展,
演演戲/主持節目過日子........

歌詞中有一段口白, 可以清楚地看出來...........

[Girl:] Will you raise me up, will you help me down?
Will you get me right out of this Godforsaken town?
Will you make it all a little less cold?

[Boy:] I can do that! I can do that!

[Girl:] Will you hold me sacred? Will you hold me tight?
Can you colorize my life, I'm so sick of black and white?
Can you make it all a little less old?

[Boy:] I can do that! I can do that!

[Girl:] Will you make me some magic, with your own two hands?
Can you build an emerald city with these grains of sand?
Can you give me something I can take home?

在這段口白中, Girl問Boy能不能作這個, 能不能作那個.....都是一些不可能作到的奇思妙想, 所以Boy回答說:"I can do that!", 愛情就是愛情, 又不是變魔術, Boy很誠實而不肯哄騙Girl.
結果, Girl說Boy會很快地就忘記她, Boy回答說"I won't do that!", 絕對不會忘記她的.

另外還有一種解釋, 有空再來說明.

將"I'd do anything for love (but I won't do that)"的歌曲聽了一遍, 再將歌詞反覆推敲了兩三遍, 發現到我上一個Post的解釋是錯誤的, 應該是如此這般才對................

請注意歌詞中的這幾句............

"I would do anything for love, I'd run right into hell and back
I would do anything for love, I'll never lie to you and that's a fact
But I'll never forget the way you feel right now, oh no, no way
................................
I would do anything for love, anything you've been dreaming of
But I just won't do that"

我可以為愛而作任何事, 任何妳所夢想的事情都可以, 但是我永遠不會忘記妳現在的感覺, I won't do that.
"I won't do that"指的就是"我永遠不會忘記妳現在的感覺".

所以最後有一段男女的問答............

不過 Meat Loaf 的歌詞真的是寫的好。

嘿嘿,其實Jim Steinman也唱過歌
在與Meat Loaf短暫分開時曾唱了首Surf up
歌喉也不錯但就是沒Meat Loaf強
後來兩人又合作時
Meat Loaf也將Surf up唱了一次

至於Bat out of hell
經典在於曲末連唱6次Like a Bat out of hell
在最後一次時Meat Loaf將Hell的尾音拉扯到一種驚天地而泣鬼神的境界
久久不能喘息

Meat Loaf的唱片封套早期都是超現實的****猛男
肌肉線條粗暴
血管脈絡清晰可尋
再配上機車,美女
一種介於神鬼之間的現實人類

哈.....
我還以為會喜歡這種偏門搖滾樂的人不多ㄌㄟ...
沒想到同好這麼多！
我個人最喜歡的是

到了第三段漸漸地歌詞不再灰暗...讓人有破繭而出的感覺

天啊
Meat Loaf 與 Jim Steinman真是兩個奇才
沒有Jim Steinman，就沒有這些詩歌般的搖滾樂
沒有Meat Loaf ，這些優美的音樂以及總是touch到人心的歌詞也不會這麼令人感動

不然你有可能找到這個這個

Jim Steinman所寫的歌多半很長，而唱的人若功力不夠，將影響到歌曲給人的感覺。Jim Steinman本人僅出過一張專輯，但他老人家的唱功及唱腔實在是.....，MEAT LOAF的唱功及唱腔比起Jim Steinman是好很多，但若同一首歌有別的唱將也唱過，則本人比較推薦非MEAT LOAF演唱的版本，例如：

Left in the Dark這首歌，若是聽過Jim Steinman、MEAT LOAF及芭芭拉史翠珊這三個人唱的版本，將會發現芭芭拉史翠珊所演唱的版本是最佳的；

Original sin這首歌，也是Taylor Dayne版本比MEAT LOAF的版本好，但是MEAT LOAF的版本，又較Pandora's Box的版本為佳；

It's all Coming Back to Me Now這首歌，個人認為二個版本中，也是Celine Dion的版本，較Pandora's Box的版本為佳；

另外，喜愛Jim Steinman作品的朋友，請勿忽略Bonnie Tayler，除了Jim Steinman幫她製作寫曲的歌之外，Making Love out of Nothing at all這首歌，Bonnie Tayler版(7:47)比Air Supply版(5:45)長，個人也較偏愛Bonnie Tayler演唱的版本；Two out of Three ain't Bad這首歌，Bonnie Tayler版不但長(8:40)，而且是由Jim Steinman製作的disco版，與MEAT LOAF的版本差很多。

還有，喜愛Jim Steinman作品的朋友，留意一張他與安德魯偉伯合作的Whistle down the Wind舞台劇，專輯中的No Matter What這首歌，是收錄Boyzone所演唱的版本，另外有MEAT LOAF的A Kiss is a Terrible Thing to Waste及Bonnie Tayler的Tire Track and Broken Hearts
