Speaking with The Evening Post, Director Peter Jackson has debunked various rumours flowing around. The DVD released in August will contain the theatrical print of the film (no special extended version) whilst in November a Special Edition will follow with 30 minutes extra - "I don't really want to call it the director's cut. It [the new scenes] is all drama. There is this thing on the Net. about all this gory stuff I was supposed to have shot, but I didn't. We were going for a (censor's rating) of PG13 and you can't waste time shooting stuff that you know is going to get cut.
It will tee everybody up before the release of The Two Towers (in December)". The special edition DVD is also tipped to include the first part of a documentary by Wellington film maker Costa Botes on the making of the trilogy.

看來DVD並不是所謂的導演版，但在11月的特別版裡會有三十分鐘的新片段，
這些片段不如之前所預測般地，會是些血腥暴力片段，
（大家都期待以前最愛玩血漿的Peter Jackson能多搞些大屠殺之流的畫面）
而將全是劇情敘述，像是在瑞文戴爾的會議部分。

這樣說起來，全片是178分鐘，加上30分鐘的新畫面，差不多是3小時半...
我想所謂的『四小時導演版』可能是很久以後的事。
