During the 20th Anniversary celebration of E.T., a number of special events and products will be offered across all of Universal's businesses. These include: theme park activities and enhancements to the popular attractions, E.T.  The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Florida, and Universal Studios Japan (where it is has consistently been the number one attraction since its recent opening); the launch of a special E.T. website (www.et20.com) in November 2001, containing a variety of information and activities, including a roll-out of such exclusive features as E.T. merchandise, digital content, and access to E.T. online chat and press information; the release of several new interactive titles; an enhanced re-issue of the film's musical score and E.T.-themed music compilations; a commemorative coffee-table book chronicling the history of the film through photos and interviews; an exclusive retail partnership with Toys R Us; special offers and tie-ins through numerous promotional partners, including Simon and Schuster, Kraft/Nabisco, Hershey's and Dairy Queen; the movie's first-time release on DVD, featuring both the original version of the film and the 20th anniversary enhanced version, as well as exclusive supplementary materials; and a charitable component, to be announced shortly.
