約半年前,於國家地理頻道的一個帶狀雜誌型節目中,看到的一個專題,可惜當時並無重播,日前終於在NGC-ASIA節目表中找到重播時間,和各位分享.

記得這個專題約30分鐘,是國家地理頻道帶狀雜誌型節目”國家地理探險家#33”中的一個單元(中間的),並非是電影的宣傳影片,節目中透過當年參戰的一位NAVAJO族人及部隊長官,回憶當年情形,並穿插相關戰爭紀錄影片,有興趣的參考看看.

The battle for Iwo Jima was one of the pivotal Pacific battles of World War II. Technology provided the United States with many advantages during World War II, but one secret weapon that helped the Americans to win Iwo Jima was an ancient language ?Navajo. Along the path to victory at Iwo Jima, a special group of Marines used the ancient words of the Navajo to transmit vital military information during this fierce battle. An oral language of great linguistic complexity, Navajo proved to be one code the Japanese couldn't break. National Geographic's WAR CODE: NAVAJO tells a story of courage and bravery through interviews with Navajo code talkers who survived the Iwo Jima battle.
