JVC Develops World's First Single-sided, Dual-layer DVD-RW Disc Technology

Tokyo - Victor Company of Japan (JVC; TSE: 6792) announced on April 4 that the company has developed the world's first single-sided dual-layer DVD-RW disc technology with a maximum storage capacity of 8.5GB to record nearly 11 hours of video in EP (extended play) mode or up to 3.5 hours in SP (standard play) mode.

The company has developed a high-sensitivity recording film, an N-Strategy recording method, and a precision thin film forming technology to enable the development of the 8.5GB disc technology.

The high-sensitivity recording film enables excellent transmission performance and signal rewritability.
