Beta is an alternative asymmetry measurement. It is more applicable to recorded CD-R discs as CD recorders continuously monitor this parameter to optimise write power while recording. Generally, a low value of Beta means that the disc is recorded close to its optimum power. High values of Beta indicate poor recording. The result should be less than 20%.
