Here is what I did to capture video under Win XP, (YUY2 at 320x240 only)
I installed the latest Win 2000 drivers (v5.39.019):
After downloading and unpacking I right-clicked on the display driver setup file and selected "compatibility mode" then the Windows 2000 compatibility mode setting,
installed the display driver, rebooted, then set my resolution and refresh rate.
Next, I unpacked and installed the Windows 2000 videotools (v2.04.015):
I right-clicked on the Video tools setup file and selected "compatibility mode" then the Windows 2000 compatibility mode setting,
installed the video tools and rebooted.
Capture mode of course is not available in the latest Windows 2000 video tools, so I used AVI_IO. I was able to capture 30fps (actually 29.97fps) at 320x240.
Seems to run very stable, very few drops under the NTFS file system.
I still prefer MJPEG at 720x480 due to the larger frame - higher resolution capability.
In my opinion YUY2 looks okay, MJPEG 704x480 looks better at the HQ setting.

NOW - there is a light at the end of the tunnel for this Matrox-forsaken card.
when I upgrade to my multiple hard drive "RAID" system, due to the higher throughput of a raid-based capture system, in theory, I be able to capture at 720x480 @ 30 fps reliably. Yes, capture files will be pretty large, but if I get (at least) two 80-100GB hard drives and run them at raid level 0, 160GB should be sufficient for moderate-sized analog capture projects and occasional recording from the TV tuner. I plan to assemble the system described above with at least a Pentium-4 processor and 256mb of DDR ram by April of 2002.
Watch this space and I'll give my honest opinion on the G-400TV's performance with this setup. (if anyone till cares about the G-400TV by then :-)
I'm more interested in RELIABLE analog capture and editing with MediaStudio Pro 6.5 at this point than anything else.

My system:
Windows XP Pro
(seperate Win ME partition for MJPEG video capture)
256MB ram
C: Maxtor 40GB 7200 rpm
D: 20.5 GB 7200 rpm
E: 20.5 GB 7200 rpm
Athlon 800 CPU
Tyan Trinity S2380 MB (KX-133 chipset)
Marvel G-400 TV card
Creative 48X CD-ROM
HP 9100i CD-RW
Studio DV IEEE-1394 card
MediaStudio Pro 6.5 for editing.
