October 1, 2000 — The action thriller Collateral Damage, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, began production September 26 on location in Xalapa, in the State of Veracruz, Mexico, it was announced today by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, President of Worldwide Production for Warner Bros. Pictures, and Steven Reuther, Chairman and CEO of Bel-Air Entertainment.

Collateral Damage tells the story of family man and firefighter Gordon Brewer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), who is plunged into the complex and dangerous world of international terrorism after he loses his wife and child in a bombing credited to Claudio "The Wolf" Perrini (Cliff Curtis). Frustrated with the official investigation and haunted by the thought that the man responsible for murdering his family might never be brought to justice, Brewer takes matters into his own hands and tracks his quarry ultimately to Colombia.

Directed by Andrew Davis ("The Fugitive," "A Perfect Murder"), the film also stars Elias Koteas ("The Thin Red Line") as CIA agent Peter Brandt; John Leguizamo ("Moulin Rouge") as Felix Ramirez, part of The Wolf's inner circle; John Turturro ("O Brother, Where Art Thou?") as Sean Armstrong, who helps Brewer infiltrate the guerilla stronghold; and Italian star Francesca Neri ("Hannibal") as Claudio's wife, Selena.

Steven Reuther and David Foster will produce and Hawk Koch and Nicholas Meyer will executive produce Collateral Damage," which is set to film in various locations in Mexico and Los Angeles. Story is by Ronald Roose and David Griffiths & Peter Griffiths, screenplay by David Griffiths & Peter Griffiths. Adam Greenberg is the director of photography. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the film worldwide.
