The patient wait for MGM's The Terminator: SE is going to pay off in a big way come October.

Although the 2-disc set has been available in select regions for some time now, the US has had to wait due to legalities and rights-ownership. But all that is almost sorted out and the disc has a tentative October release.

The specs: MGM will release the set on the little-used DVD-14 format (dual-layer on one side - single-layer on the other) with a brand new 16x9 anamorphic transfer downconverted from a High Definition master. The audio has been remastered into DD 5.1 Surround-EX. Supplements include the Terminator – A Retrospective and Other Voices documentaries; a wealth of recently-discovered deleted scenes; teasers, foreign and domestic trailers and TV spots; various drafts of the script, including the final shooting script and a an image gallery of pre-production artwork, designs, production stills, effects photos and more.

Here's the kicker: originally unavailable to participate in the disc, writer/director James Cameron has now contributed interview segments for the retrospective documentary and screen-specific audio commentary (a first) for the deleted scenes! As I also mentioned last January, there is a dedicated website for the SE. Give it a visit!

A final price and an exact release date for The Terminator: SE have yet to be announced. This is shaping up to be one hell of an expensive Fall...
