INDIANA JONES Trilogy
Boy, if not being able to get Star Wars on DVD for all these years wasn't enough, Lucasfilm has to add salt to the wound and withhold Indiana Jones, too! I can still remember when I attended the 1999 VSDA, and was all excited when from afar I saw a bunch of Indiana Jones banners hanging from the Paramount booth. Turned out to be a big cheat, as they were promoting brand-new VHS special editions! Oh, the pain!
Since then, aside from some vague comments made by George Lucas at a press conference for the European premiere of The Phantom Menace, indicating the Indiana Jones films would be released on DVD, there has been scant word from Lucasfilm or Paramount on what is up with these. (And by the way, if your wondering what director Steven Spielberg has to do with all this, remember that the Indiana Jones films are Lucasfilm productions, who control the rights to the films, not Spielberg.)
According to Paramount PR big dude Martin Blythe, the only word on any Indiana Jones DVDs is straight and to the point: "Not in 2001." So, hang up those bullwhips for a while, kiddies. With Lucas hard at work on Episode II but Lucasfilm confirming the Star Wars films are in production for DVD, it is probably gonna be a long wait for Indy. Rats, I hate snakes!
