On July 31, 2001, Universal Studios Home Video is serving up the American Pie Ultimate Edition, a two-disc DVD featuring the film in three versions: Widescreen, Full Screen and DTS. The Ultimate Edition of the 1999 sleeper hit comedy contains six hours of bonus features. Included on the American Pie Ultimate Edition DVD is a sneak peak of the making of Universal Pictures' upcoming American Pie 2, and also the very first American Pie 2 theatrical trailer. The American Pie Ultimate Edition DVD will be available in both rated and unrated versions and priced at $29.98 suggested retail.

Each American Pie Ultimate Edition DVD will include an exclusive Universal Movie Cash instantly redeemable FREE ticket to see American Pie 2 which opens theatrically on August 10, 2001.

This makes the third time MovieCash will be included in Universal Studios Home Video DVD releases. Previously, The Mummy Ultimate Edition DVD featured MovieCash redeemable for the blockbuster theatrical hit, The Mummy Returns. On July 10th, The Jurassic Park DVD Collection will include MovieCash applicable for a free ticket to see Jurassic Park III, which opens theatrically July 18th. Universal Studios Home Video will support the release of the American Pie Ultimate Edition with a similar synergistic campaign which tags theatrical TV spots for American Pie 2 with information to consumers about the limited time MovieCash offer on the DVD.
