From what I read, Universal said that ET Ultimate Gift Set (3 disks) will have the 1982 original ET, but it never said that the ET special edition(2 disks) will not. You might say that Universal is playing word game with the consumers.

Recently, Universal has stopped providing online DVD reviewers with preview copies of DVDs. Some say that this is related to the fact that Universal does not want to lose sales on ET Ultimate Gift Set (3 disks). Think about it, if any online DVD reviewers found out and told the public that ET special edition(2 disks) has the 1982 original ET, people who ordered the Ultimate Gift Set would want to return it.

This is why the DVD is going to be released less than 10 days from now and yet there is not any news.
