Texas Senator Ted Cruz has cleared another hurdle in the presidential race, as the Illinois Board of Elections has ruled he is a natural-born citizen.
The board determined that Cruz, who was born in Canada to his American mother and Cuban father, is eligible to become president.
“The candidate is a natural born citizen by virtue of being born in Canada to his mother who was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth,” the board said.
