The experiment was the collaborative success of 32 scientists from three continents. It could only be performed at the Paul Scherrer Institut near Zurich, Switzerland which has the world’s strongest muon beam source. Laser systems were developed at Laboratoire Kastler-Brossel in Paris, at the Max-Planck-Institut für Quantenoptik in Garching, Germany, at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich and at the Institut für Strahlwerkzeuge and Dausinger&Giesen GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany. Sensitive detectors were designed by the Universities of Coimbra and Aveiro, Portugal and by the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. The Raman Laser Shifter was designed and came courtesy of The Chemistry Department of Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, USA. Yale University, USA and the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan contributed parts of the readout electronics and laser system used in the experiment.
