1.一般普通問句的話, 就會用"Why were they all made alike?".
可是印象中, 如果變成你例句中的狀況,
的確就會寫成"Why they were all made alike?"


我倒覺得2.和3.都怪怪的.
我想至少也應該寫成:
When do you think the best time it is for him to come?

At the end of the village, 『the street broadened to a clean white road with high hedgerow elms on either side』, and 『their branches(S) meeted and formed a green canopy
over it』.
我感覺，前面應該加個逗號才對；
至於中間的and，應該是用來將原本兩個可以獨立的句子，連接成一個句子的，
(基於這個想法下，我倒覺得那個and的前面的逗號，反而才應該是可以省略的．)
所以直覺上，如果硬要省略and，照理前面和後面的句子，句型也應該跟著一起變．

6.感覺只有"Who do you think the president is?"是正確的講法．
"Who do you think is the president?"變成兩個現在普通式的動詞接在一起，太奇怪了.
