Yankees: Darrell Rasner pitched 5 2/3 innings of three-hit ball in his last start against the Mariners. He struck out four and walked two, which could be the reason why he might get this start. Manager Joe Torre said Rasner would be sent to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after his start against the Mariners, but the performance he turned in changed some minds. Torre and general manager Brian Cashman now must decide which pitcher will be assigned to Triple-A: Rasner or Kei Igawa. Igawa struggled in his last start against the Mariners, giving up nine hits and eight runs in four innings.
Mariners: Washburn gets another crack at the Yankees, but this time at home. He went into the sixth inning for the sixth consecutive time this season on Sunday at Yankee Stadium, but was on the wrong end of a 5-0 score. It was his fourth career loss to the Yankees in eight decisions. He has started four games at Safeco Field this season, beating the White Sox on May 1, losing to the Rangers and Twins and receiving a no-decision against the Athletics....
