因為我很想買這種硬碟但不做RAID

桌上型電腦的壽命無法與一直開啟並連續工作的RAID系統中的極端環境相比。我們希望硬碟既能在高強度RAID系統中廣泛應用，又能象傳統桌上型電腦一樣提供較低的容量成本。這種硬碟就是WD Caviar RE。WD Caviar RE硬碟按企業級標準設計和製造，能在24x7的連續工作環境下提供增強的可靠度。

時間有限的錯誤恢復 (TLER) -- 提高了與RAID適配器的相容性；防止硬碟因錯誤恢復過程時間太長而出現故障，這種故障在桌上型硬碟上較常見。
1百萬小時MTBF -- 滿足企業級可靠度標準。
8 MB快取記憶體 -- 比行業標準的2 MB版本提供了更高的命中率和更快的資料傳輸。

Western Digital RAID edition hard drives have a feature called TLER (Time
Limited Error Recovery) which stops the hard drive from entering into a deep
recovery cycle. The hard drive will only spend 7 seconds to attempt to
recover. This means that the hard drive will not be dropped from a RAID
array.

If you install a RAID edition hard drive in a desktop computer,
the computer system may report more errors than a normal desktop hard
drive (due to the TLER feature). Western Digital does not recommend
installing RAID edition hard drives into a desktop computer environment.
