這是為了要消磁，如果用磁性金屬作船身的話，掃雷艇的作業方式就會變的很簡單...用船身掃雷！
另外其實很多美軍的"退役"裝備，在很多國家的軍隊裡可還是戰力一流的好貨，像這次的提級艦就是個例子。
F-16的話當初並非重開生產線，不過台灣的訂單的確救了渥斯堡廠沒錯﹝當地民眾還為此拉了"thanks president,thanks Taiwan"的布條﹞。
老實說，我認為採購這五艘提級艦，然後把神盾系統升級+MK26雙臂發射器換成以MK-41 VLS取代，搭配紀德級的話，是比癡癡等待柏克級來得理想的選項。

問題在於,這個改進會是個大工程...
Baseline 0 升級到baseline 4~6 很多東西都要換,電腦,軟體,雷達...
把雙臂發射器換成VLS也會是大工程,要把整個發射架連同彈艙挖掉,再裝VLS進去...
把神盾艦最主要的賣點升級,我想花的經費可能跟重造五艘差不多了
如果升級這個會比重造便宜,老美早做了...
不會把他除役
而且與其花大錢買這些,不如改進指揮管制體系...
讓全軍能協同作戰,遠比各自作戰要好的多
