雙核絕對不可能是趨勢，也不可能普及
理由有五
1.單位成本過高：假設一塊晶圓可切割一百顆CPU。雙核設計就僅能切割五十顆CPU，產量減半、價格增高
2.良率問題：假設良率為90%，單核100顆有90顆為可用。雙核設計縮減為45顆
3.廢熱問題：雙核的廢熱累積也是兩倍
4.頻率問題：廢熱會影響電晶體功率，越熱越難超頻。雙核與頻率的提升相互抵觸
5.歷史回顧：鑒往知來...從Voodoo到Pemtium，結合雙晶片的設計只代表技術出現暫時無法突破的困難
這些與成本抵觸的設計，在消費性市場往往只能成為過渡型產品。

1. 可藉由縮小製程以提高單一晶圓產量, 130nm ---> 90nm
2. 可藉由更先進的製程來提高良率,
3. 可藉由晶片的設計來改善廢熱 -> Dothan V.S. Prescott
4. 頻率不是唯一提升效能的方法 --> Dothan & A64 V.S. Prescott
5. 但是卻是提升效能最快也最簡便的方法,
再者,這是市場需求, 單一核心在執行多個應用程式時的無力一向是AMD過去的痛,
Intel 的 HT在執行多個應用程式的優勢一直是有目共睹
