C’t 沒說它測的 jitter 容許度是各別 pit/land 的 jitter，還是各個點的 average jitter。我原本採用前者，由您這篇推論，似乎較可能是後者。那在 20% jitter 時，有些 pit/land 的 jitter 已接近 50%，誤讀機率很大，雖然糾錯功能可能有幫助，卻不一定救得回。另外，也不知道 C’t 有沒檢查檔案正確性。
要看懂 DVD jitter 的基本理論和粗略規格不難，但由於國內外網站幾乎都沒有用 CATS 測的資料，而用 Benq 燒錄機測出的 jitter 極少合乎規格的，Plextor 機器的 TA test 數據顯示常有不少 pit/land 的 jitter 達 ∼50%；如果一定要合規格，那可用的機器和碟片極少，因此對 DVDR(W) 的品質很感困擾。您曾說 DVD 是失敗的產品，就燒錄片和機器來說，真是一針見血。

規格上不是有寫
Jitter is the standard deviation σ of the time variation of the digitized data passed through the equalizer. The jitter of the leading and trailing edges is measured to the PLL clock and normalized by the Channel bit clock period. Jitter shall be less than 8,0 % of the Channel bit clock period.
所以 20% 的 jitter 表示有很多訊號誤差已超過 0.5 T。誤差超過 0.5T 的訊號是一定判錯，不是可能判錯。
