DRAM Remarking in Taiwan (HARDWARE)

Thanks to idiot for letting me know of a situation developing in Taiwan involving DRAM remarking. It seems that DRAM chips are being remarked from 6 ns V-Data to 4 ns Samsung on Radeon 9550 and GeForce 5200 video cards.

According to sources, a gag order went out to five customer representatives this morning regarding the situation. We believe the situation is limited to manufacturers in Taiwan, distributing products in Asia, who do not market their products in North America or Europe. It is assumed the manufacturer must have some knowledge of the remarking since the memory clockrate is set to a mere 166 MHz. More information can be found at
