The new 64-bit capable processors will be designed to replace the Mobile Athlon 64 chips AMD produces for the mobile market. Although those chips consume a maximum of 35 watts, the thermal rating has made them unpopular for commercial notebooks, AMD executives acknowledged. Instead, at least one of the versions of the new Turion chip is expected to be rated at about 25 watts, making it more of a true thin-and-light notebook processor.
