[被過濾的****] CHIP FIRM Via said it is showing off a 64-bit CPU that's codenamed Isaiah, after the British philosopher and man of letters who was able to irritate Stalin.
The company is using the Fall Processor Forum at the Fairmont Hotel in Dullsville, San Jose, to preview this and other technology.

The firm said the chip uses a low power design coupled with advanced built in security features and will be able to run multiple tasks concurrently including decrypting a digital media stream while showing its content on a high definition TV.

The CPU will also include a fast front side bus, a floating point unit that can perform additions and multiplies using two clock cycles, large cache, and out of order superscalar execution.

The CPU is designed by Centaur, which is a subsidiary of the Taiwanese company.

Centaur's CEO Glenn Henry claimed in a statement that the core will be available in the first half of 2006, and that more details about the CPU will be released as time goes by.

As well as discussing the chip, Via is also showing off the Media Ready 4000 using the Linux Media COncergence Software Suite from CAC Media, the Mediabox from Autocom - which runs media in cars and has an Internet and navigation system, and the Via EPIA SP mini-ITX and N Nano-ITX mobos. It is also showing off dual processor mini ITX and quad processor demo systems. µ
