Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment have announced the original Star Wars trilogy for release on September 21st. Episode IV: A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi will arrive as a boxed set featuring the 1997 Special Edition versions of the films. Each film will be digitally restored and remastered for sound and picture quality (read: new anamorphic transfers), with a fourth bonus disc that will feature specially created added-value material. Among the bonuses to look forward to are a newly made documentary about the "Star Wars" franchise and never-before-seen footage. New audio commentary tracks featuring creator George Lucas and members of the Lucasfilm creative team are also planned. The Star Wars Trilogy will be sold exclusively as a boxed collection (not separately) and at a still undetermined retail price. Expect an official press release to be issued in the coming weeks hopefully with more substantive disc details. Until then, May the Force Be With You... Always.
