Mr. Fujio Mitarai,
We are the crowd of Canon digital camera faithful users in Taiwan, R.O.C.
After passing through for the long time with Rainbow Photo&Image Co. Ltd、Canon Hong Kong Co., Ltd., we were very disappointed. Therefore, we think it is necessary and we decide to express our disaffection & requests to Canon Headquater directly. For these years, Canon is well-known as the 12- language User Interface in digital cameras world. However, according to the Canon DC products in Taiwan market, ONLYSimplified Chinese is presented, NOT Traditional Chinese! For most Canon DC users, this is the point that we can’t tolerate.
To Taiwan's users, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese are extremely different languages!
To us, the Simplified Chinese usages and the typefaces, can be realized almost only 60%, but many Japanese friends alwasys think it is serviceable of making Simplified Chinese to replace the Traditional Chinese. This is absolutely the wrong idea. Whereas, for Taiwan users, English is much easier to understand. In addition, from the marketing of view, "Localization" is the goal for various enterprises. "Localization" is also precisely one kind of respect to local consumers. Sony, Olympus, Nikon, Fujifilm, and lot of digital camera enterprises are trying so hard to provide Traditional Chinese UI products inTaiwan market. Today how come Canon, the number one want to be in DC field, unexpectedly ignores all the users in Taiwan?
Therefore, most of the Canon users in Taiwan decided to unite, and directly expresses to Canon headquater our disaffection、our disappointment,and our anger. At present, since the official Canon products are unable to provide us the proper respects and rights, we already initiated resists which is NOT to buy the official Canon products, and start to buy the parallel-imported products for the first step. In the future, if we still do not receive proper respect from Canon, we may try to let all of Taiwan camera users to understand such not equal treatment, comprehensively stop buying the Canon products for expressing our disappointment and anger.
The following three statements are our basic requests, we sincerely wish you would read in details and think them over and over
1- We wish that Canon would provide new firmware for all Canon cameras in Taiwan market with adding Traditional Chinese Users’ Interface. (If there’s the memory space problem, then we wish for Traditional Chinese UI instead of Simplified Chinese )
2- We wish that all Canon cameras in Taiwan market in the future will provide Traditional Chinese Users’ Interface. (If there’s the memory space problem, then we wish for Traditional Chinese UI instead of Simplified Chinese )
3- We wish Rainbow Photo&Image Co. Ltd would take the responsibility for updating firmware. Taking a good responsibility as being a general agent.
The above three statements are "the basic respects" that Taiwan's Canon consumers requests. Hopes Canon would take this issue seriously, and don’t ever try making Simplified Chinese to substitute Traditional Chinese again because this kind of behavior to us is extremely disrespectful.
In addition, we also have many friends in the correlation technology field, therefore, we also fully realize that adding the Traditional Chinese Users’ Interface is not difficult matter. Even This is just a piece of cake, the most important point is,
Will Canon respect for all the customers in Taiwan….or not?
