數位化的好處是儲存,傳送,編輯方便,放映過程更為簡單安靜.傳統的電影膠卷保存不易,怕受潮,灰塵,刮傷,放映過太多次之後畫面及聲音的品質就會開始下降.但是DLP的畫質和膠卷相比還有一大段的距離,這一點從數位相機目前還沒有辦法完全取代傳統相機就可以明白.所以數位電影雖然是趨勢,我們也樂觀其成,但可能還要幾年之後技術才會完全成熟.而且除了DLP數位投影機之外,若片商沒有引進足夠的數位電影,也是英雄無用武之地.下列清單是國外曾以數位方式放映過的電影,數量真的是少的可憐.所以現行的方式應該還是以傳統的膠卷式放映為主,少數電影才有機會使用到DLP數位投影機.
