THE MOST RECENT VIA roadmaps seen by the INQUIRER have some interesting updates on its future chipset technology.
Via is set to introduce the VT6122, a Gigabit single 32-bit PCI ship.

Here's some highlights of what else it is up to.

AMD Chipsets
The KT880 mentioned in the headline is due to be released late this quarter. It will support the Athlon XP, 400MHz system buses, dual 64-bit channels and DDR 266, 333, and 400 ECC memory types.

The K8T890 is an Opteron and Athlon 64 chipset slated for the first quarter of next year, supporting PCI-Express.

The VT8239 south bridge chip will support eight hard drives, two IDE for four ATA 133 hard disks, and Serial ATA ports for up to four hard drives, as well as RAID 0, 1, 0+1 and JBOD.

Intel Chipsets
Earlier this week, Via showed off its PT880 Pentium 4 motherboard at the Intel Developer Forum, but there's a successor to that on the way which is expected to go into mass production early next year. The PT890 will support DDR-2 at speeds of 400/533/666, PCI Express, and support dual 64-bit channels and the 800MHz and below system buses. It will also be backward compatible with DDR-1.

There's also an "Unichrome 3.0" GFX version of this chipset dubbed the PM890, which will support DirectX 9.

The CM400 is a Pentium III chiupset which will include Unichrome 2, AGP 8X, integrated video, and 128-bit 2D and 3D graphics.

CPU的頻寬最高頂多3.2G....你能期待VIA的雙通道能有多驚人的表現嗎?.....:jolin:

不是 他是指VIA能不能做出非同步雙通道
這就跟nforce2不同了
之前討論過了
而且K7永遠也跑不出5.4G 除非外頻跑超過250


KT880目前的消息應該是配8237
8239大概要等K8T890 也就是雙通道的K8

不過我覺的很奇怪的是為何要執著於 非同步的雙通道 呢??
同步化才是最順暢的不是嗎?? 像是現在 200外頻 + DDR400同步在我的nForce2上可以跑出 3034左右的成績....以達成率來說已經算表現不錯了:)

因為DDR400跟DDR266/333還是有價差的
沒錢嘛:D
不過若能有非同步雙通道 最好要能定頻66/33 外頻才能超的爽
只是東西還沒出來前都是幻想而已:p

手誤嗎?發抖錯的!!

我倒是蠻期待KT880的表現 要等K8系列的價錢普及 可能是明年中以後的事

雖然NFORCE2系列效能搶眼 但討厭USB2.0讓我的外接都生灰塵

雙通道雖然提升有限 但看到開機DUAL CHANEL字秀出來 也蠻爽的 我的兩條BH-5也才不浪費 期待KT880版子的上市
