AGP Troubleshooting Guide

Why can't I enable AGP under WinXP/Win2000 with ALi M1647 platform ? or Why is it that my M1647's performance using Nvidia VGA card is poor?
Nvidia driver 27.XX ( and later version) will disable the M1647 AGP function on all Nvidia VGA card under WinXP and Win2000.
To solve this issue, please follow the procedure below:

1) If you are using TNT2 ,Geforce256, Geforce 2 GTS, Geforce 2 Ultra, and Geforce 2 MX (200/400)

Under WinXP and SP1, we recommend you use Windows Inbox VGA driver or Nvidia Detonator driver 23.11.
Under Win 2000 , we recommend you use Nvidia Detonator driver 23.11.
2) If you are using Geforce3, Geforce 4 and others which are not listed above, or if you really want to use new Nvidia Detonator drivers. You must add a key to enable AGP.

1. run Regedit
2. Find this path

WinXP:
[Hkey_Local_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Video\ {********-****-****-****-*********}\0000\

Win2000:
[Hkey_Local_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Controset001\Services\nv\device0]

(Note :The GUID may not matched because this will also depend on the video card and VGA driver version.)

3. If you have followed the procedure correctly, you will find the following:

4. Add this :

Name Type Data
Enablealiagp REG_BINARY 01 00 00 00

5. Restart system



The following are recommended AGP Troubleshooting Steps:
1. Download latest ALi AGP utility.
2. Do the following steps one-by-one until problem is solved
Enter "Manual mode" to set the AGP Data Rate to 1X, and reboot. (If "1X" fail, you can try step b)
Apply "Safe" mode and reboot

When doing a clean install in win98, AGP driver is installed and computer is rebooted, just when the desktop screen is displayed, the screen goes black and comes up with a Windows Protection error. If I put my old K6-2/400 back (I have K6-2-550), everythings seems to be fine. I have done another clean install and this time I didn't load the AGP driver and it worked ok.
We find that K6-2-550 cannot boot into Windows 98 with the ordinary CPU fan, the temperature of CPU is too high to boot into Windows 98 (the error message is "Windows protection error"). The system is fine if we reduce the frequency of CPU to 450 or 500 MHz. We recommend you to use a bigger CPU fan to decrease the temperature of CPU or reduce the CPU frequency to 450 MHz.

Why is it that when I installed the Voodoo3 3000 in my AGP slot, my DirectX Diagnostics displays that the "AGP support is not available" and the Bus is regarded as PCI instead of AGP.
The Voodoo3 3000/2000 is actually not an AGP card, but a PCI card, which will not issue any AGP command or use any AGP memory. Therefore DXdiag will not show any AGP support enabled with Voodoo3 3000/2000 plugged.

Installed a new graphic card, the system becomes unstable.Browsing the Internet using Internet Explorer (IE) browser would sometimes make the vertical scroll bar move on its own and the picture on the screen becomes distorted.
We suspect that the problem is caused by the OS and driver conflict. We recommend that you perform a fresh-install from the Recommended AGP Installation Guide.

I’m experiencing lose frames when playing DVD. I have a Voodoo3 card installed in my AGP slot.
Please go to the BIOS Advance chipset setting and enable the K6 Write-Allocate option. Download the latest AGP driver and the AGP utility and set it to Turbo mode. Make sure the DVD-ROM DMA option is enabled in Device Manager.

My Hauppauge WinTV tuner card causes system lock-ups when using the tuner card.
Hauppauge has some driver which fixes some WinTV compatibility issues with ALi chipset. Please contact Hauppauge or visit their website for driver updates (http://www.hauppauge.com/).

What should I do when TNT/TNT2/Geforce encounter black screen in Windows 2000 default TNT/TNT2/Geforce driver?
Download W2K VGA driver from the VGA vendor's web site. Before entering the Windows operating system, press "F8" to boot into Windows 2000 safe mode and then install the VGA driver.

然後按右鍵 新增一個二元檔

名稱 Enablealiagp
類行 REG_BINARY
內容 改成 01 00 00 00




然後重新啟動就可開啟了
我的華碩A7A266E 本來沒開啟 微星 GF4-TI4200 4X 只有 7800分
開啟後 9800 分 抄一下破一萬分~~~



如果沒辦法開啟 保示 你找錯地方了
多試幾次 摸索一下就會了

我也想知道 A7A266-E 的 FastWrite 要怎麼開啟。雖然有看過一種說法是說：「有沒有開啟 Fast Write功能對顯示卡的效能表現並沒有多大的影響。」:)
