The New York Yankees did inquire about the availability of Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano before acquiring former White Sox pitcher Javier Vazquez, the New York Daily News reported today.

On the heels of an earlier New York Post report about the Yankees' interest in Zambrano, Daily News beat writer Mark Feinsand reports (via Twitter) that the Cubs were willing to take on the two-year, $8 million contract of left-handed pitcher Kei Igawa, but the two sides couldn't settle on a deal.

The Post reported Monday that the Yankees were believed to have inquired about the Cubs' ace, but Zambrano's agent, Barry Praver, said he had heard nothing from Cubs general manager Jim Hendry.
不過Zambrano的經紀人否認這個消息

"Jim has not approached us about Carlos waiving the no-trade provision of his contract, nor is Carlos interested in waiving it," Praver said.

The Yankees filled their need for a starting pitcher Tuesday by acquiring Vazquez from the Braves.

在水手交易來Figgins後三壘手位置被搶走，角色變得很尷尬的Beltre今天終於找到落腳處，紅襪將他簽下來擔任三壘手。

現在換之前沒賣成的Lowell要傷腦筋了，就算把傷養好，回來也不一定有他的位子...

Epstein:該死...本來差點就脫手了，好死不死這時驗出有傷，結果被遊騎兵退貨 :cry:

讓我想到05年球季結束馬林魚跟紅襪交易Beckett.....
馬林魚把低潮的Lowell當贈品送到紅襪.....
現在又被當燙手山芋......
