A professor caught me when I was sitting in his/her class.
He/She asked me if I am taking this course for credits?
I’d like to reply I am only sitting this class.
I appreciate your help in translating the last sentence?

我查一下字典，
發現上面寫著

sit in on = 旁聽

所以我在想。句尾是不是少了個 on ??
