NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology)

Care and Handling Guide for the Preservation of CDs and DVDs - A joint Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) and NIST project.

Stability Comparison of Recordable Optical Discs—A Study of Error Rates in Harsh Conditions (pdf)

Verbatim DVD Lifetime Expectancy
 More than 100 years projected lifetime for DVD+R 2.4X / 4X
More than 50 years projected archival life for DVD+RW
More than 60 years projected lifetime for DVD-R Authoring
More than 100 years projected lifetime for DVD-R General
More than 50 years projected archival life for DVD-RW

Panasonic:Recordable DVD … Delivering the Convergence of Consumer Electronics and PCs (Word)
DVD-RAM – Offering 100,000 write/rewrite cycles and built-in error correction... The media has a 30-year data life...
DVD-R General was developed for business and consumer applications – data archiving and one-time video recording. A write-once technology, DVD-R General provides a 100-year data life...
DVD-RW (DVD-Re-recordable) -- DVD-RW is the rewritable version of DVD-R. Similar to DVD-RAM except that its technology writes sequentially. Users can record, erase and re-record the discs 1,000 times and has a 30-50 year data life...

OSTA:Disc Longevity: How long will data recorded on writable DVD discs remain readable?
引用:
(節錄)...Generally speaking, manufacturers claim life spans ranging from 30 to 100 years for DVD-R and DVD+R discs and up to 30 years for DVD-RW, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM. Be aware, however, that disc producers, manufacturing methods and materials change over time as do applications and cost imperatives. Consequently, those concerned with disc longevity should consult their media manufacturer for more particular information.

Super Hard Coat DVD

Media Sciences:Defect Management Capabilities of Various DVD Technologies (PDF)。

而 Plextor 對於 DVD+RW (MRW) 使用具有 Defect Management 的 Mount Rainier 技術之介紹:Mount Rainier on Plextor Drives (pdf)。

cdfreaks: Why DVD+R(W) is superior to DVD-R(W)
